I ordered the catfish and shrimp plate and was surprised at how small the portion sizes have gotten for the price. Granted it has been two years since my last visit, but $17 for 4 shrimp, two catfish fillets, a small house salad, and a loaded potato is a little ridiculous. Their prices are almost on par with a fine dining establishment that has chef prepared dishes. It’s unfortunate because they are in a good location to get a shite ton of business from the college students that live in the area if they just lowered the prices a tad or expanded their menu to include more budget friendly options.

Their shrimp poboys are awful. Usually about 6 total giant arse shrimp that aren't very good. I'll go to Parrain's, Chimes, or ACME before Mike Anderson's.

ETA: $17 for what you ordered actually seems reasonable in my opinion.

I was going to say, that sounds like a lot of food for $17. I don't eat out much any more because I'm almost always annoyed and disappointed (old), but I can barely get out of Chick-fil-A for under $20

I thought the same thing.

$17 seems about right for that amount of food.

I said almost on par. $17 for fricking fried catfish is silly. I don’t care how good the breading is

My wife and I went recently and shared the catfish platter. It was plenty. If you want quantity go try Dukes.

Food Board too

$17 isn’t even close to “almost on par” for a nicer restaurant.

And it’s $17 for fried catfish, fried shrimp, a salad, and a loaded baked potato.

that's a shame, that used to be a great place, I was one of his first employees at his original place on Highland when I was at LSU

ETA: and $17 won't even get you a couple of cocktails at a "nicer" place

correct.

Hell, go to Whataburger, order a double bacon cheeseburger, small fry, and small drink. You aren't walking out of there for less than $10.

Went to the Mike Anderson’s

Mistake #1

Last time I went, I ordered some kind of fish with a sauce on it. Was supposed to be a "special". The sauce was cooled enough to have congealed. I took 2 bites before I decided to send it back. Told the waiter it was cold and congealed. He brought back the same fish (bites missing) and they had wiped the sauce off and put more. Fish was still cold. He dropped off the check midway thru my wife finishing hers. Never even mentioned dessert, not that I would have bothered though.

Had some oysters before and have never had so many shell pieces like that. If I didn't know better, I would have thought they open the oysters using only a hammer.

I'd choose Captain D's before I go back.
