An affidavit released by BRPD Thursday lays out the alleged series events that led to the death of Danny Buckley. Jace Boyd, 24, was accused of shooting Buckley after he approached Boyd in his car and asked him for money Saturday night.

According to the document, Boyd got out his vehicle shortly after their initial confrontation when he saw Buckley asking a woman for money in the parking lot. Boyd is said to have gotten out of his car and shouted at Buckley, telling him to leave people alone because he was scaring them.

Boyd then allegedly armed himself with a gun from his vehicle and approached Buckley. The report says Boyd pointed the gun at the victim and tried to shoot, but his gun misfired. Boyd then pulled the firearm's slide to load another round into the chamber and shot Buckley once in the abdomen.

The affidavit says Buckley was unarmed at the time and was out of arms' reach of Boyd when he was shot.

This seems like its missing some important details. A guy walking up and trying to shoot a panhandler, weapon jams, clearing a jam, then shooting a panhandler in the abdomen just for panhandling seems a little farfetched.

It does sound a bit farfetched and I don't know a single thing about this event except what has been discussed here, but it also kind of sounds like this Jace guy was either overly fearful or overly anxious to have a reason to use his gun.

If he got out the truck and went over to the guy, he has a culpable role in this. He could have driven near and honked his horn, yelled at the guy, something.

And it's possible he is. That's one explanation that would make all of this make sense.

I would love to see the security camera footage. With all the businesses right there, there are probably multiple angles. It wasn't in some dark corner of that lot was it? Panhandlers tend to stay in the high traffic areas because that's where the marks are.

If this is the actual account of the incident, then this dude is toast. You don't get to be the aggressor and still claim phantom self defense.

Now if he had yelled at him to stop bothering women and then the bum came over and started harassing him in his car and causing property damage... Then maybe he would have a semi-justified reason.

But I also don't trust media accounts when they read like this because usually it's a completely different account later. After they get the people riled up.

Given your average person doesn't clear a jam or misfire worth a shite, this doesn't add up.

I'm not saying he is or isn't crazy, is or isn't guilty, but that part doesn't make any sense.

If that’s what happened the guy needs to be locked up. Guilty.
But there will be a trial unless he cops a plea. He will get his chance to defend himself in court.

So he went back to his vehicle to get his gun?

He’s fricked if that’s true.

So where's the actual affidavit? All we have is what some reporter interpreted. The dude may be guilty, but that's a shite article.

Ya, I'd reserve judgement until the actual document is made public.

I trust journalists about as much as I trust politicians.

Agree. But so far I’ve seen the media and the atty for the deceased paint a picture of the victim as a kindly old gentleman just out asking for a few bucks for his family. Yet he was originally described as an “aggressive panhandler”. Well which is it?

We
Just found out yesterday that George Floyd was high as frick on meth and fentanyl. Yet he got buried in a gold coffin cause he was “turning his life around”. Please!

Let’s get all The facts and deets On the beggar before we canonize him. Or at least find out how the confrontation unfolded.
