All I saw was a bunch of people cheering. Did I miss the impact footage?

I think the camera was destroyed on impact…that being said, it probably looked something like a car windshield colliding with bug, but on a grander scale.

Looks like all they did was zoom in on a rock. Am I supposed to believe they had a camera on whatever projectile they used?

Just typical responses from the board’s perpetually cynical and/or blasé.

Kind of like the other poster said… it looks like they zoomed in on a rock. Show me the impact from another angle, how much was it deflected, what was the outcome?

A small spacecraft impacting a 100 meter wide solid iron rock isn’t going to do much.

It’s probably more of a proof of concept for using a 25 megaton nuke to do most of the deflecting.

Edit: Even then, it could take weeks or months to see a significant visual change in the asteroid trajectory. We’re talking about object with orbits around the Sun of planets of millions of miles.

Maybe there was a CCTV camera on the bigger asteroid.

So, in their words, we threw a vending machine at a football stadium.

That rock must have crumbled like the twin towers on impact. We should have filled the vending machine with Coke cans full of jet fuel and just melted the rock.
