I love watching these threads myself. They claim to be all for freedom, but still want to insert their mindset into how other people live their lives in regards to this kind of conversation.

It seems like you’re really worked up about this.

Calling these people idiots isn't the same as forcing them to do something. I know that's tough for you to grasp.

How so? I really just found it a peculiar aspect of the human condition that I thought someone might have an answer for.
Some folks chimed in with reasonable explanations and I appreciate that.

I have no idea what this even means, but most of your posts seem to be inexplicable, so that's not real surprising.

I like to wear one in the common areas at work b/c I score brownie pts with the AA and it also helps me with gun shy urinal phobia. Win-win.

Questioning why someone does something stupid does not mean we want you to not be allowed to do that stupid thing.

I got the impression that he was a bit pissy here because I was specifically NOT trying to do that.

habit.
UMC office dwellers forget how many menial workers have been browbeaten to be in masks constantly, all day, for months at a time. We have a lot more freedom - even at its worst I had to wear a mask like 1/2 hour a week. These guys had to wear it all the time, for months. At some point you start to unconsciously believe it's important just for the mask to be there.

What's going on here?
their programming is completed, they are brain dead mindless drones totally 100% obedient to the state, just waiting to be told what to do and how to think
also despite mandates being lifted, they are still 100% still in place for any medical related business such as gym/PT, or doctors offices

This seems maybe the most reasonable explanation here, but also a bit sad at the same time.

While I can't even locate my mask if I were going somewhere that required people to wear one, if there are places that allow the option the last thing I would worry myself over is why someone is wearing a mask.
I've read that studies show that mask reduced the chances of getting Covid, but not by much at all. I am talking about just over 1 percentage point, which isn't at all enough to continue a mask mandate. But if someone wants to reduce their chances by 1% then god bless em. Of all things there is to get mad about, someone wearing a mask shouldn't be one of them.

Humans are herd animals and constant fear porn is psychologically effective.

This is a nice story, I guess.
It has NOTHING to do with what I was asking here.

I'll never understand why people are so into what other people are wearing. Don't break the law. Be nice. Be thoughtful. And I don't care if you have a bucket on your head. But pull your dam pants up.

My favorite is one I saw yesterday. By themselves driving....mask under nose.
