I’ve read articles about that as well.
Will make you have a better appreciation and compassion for them.
Also think about that the vet has possibly watched your dog grow through the years with every visit. Clearly they love animals or they wouldn’t be a vet. So it’s likely rough on them as well when they have to put your dog down, especially if they have been the one to care for them since they were a puppy.

Preventive cleaning is easier and cheaper than the process when there's a problem. The surprise size of the bill is naturally frustrating, but put yourself in your dog's place and imagine if your mouth was feeling like arse. That shite ain't fun.
Please reconsider, you can still change your mind. Your dog won't understand immediately that you're responsible for improving his condition, but you'll know it; and you'll get to enjoy your buddy's company knowing he is enjoying his time with you a great deal more than he otherwise would be.
BTW, your username is getting me hungry.

He's six. This was the first time.

Unfortunately, it's an evil necessity, and since they have to put them out to clean their teeth, that's where the cost comes from.

That dumb shite would be enough to have me switching vets

Should I have a few of his teeth pulled? Plague is not something to take lightly.

What did dogs do for thousands of years before humanity invented doggie dental cleaning?

The same thing humans did before modern dentistry.
But it’s available now...

They lost teeth and died from infections, like humans.

Had the same attitude. Waited years. Did it this year. Had to have 9 teeth extracted from infection. Do your pup a favor and get it done.

Wait until he needs a crown. That will really shock you. Our Sheltie needed two, and it cost almost as much as it would for a person.

Yes, if you would brush your dogs teeth you wouldn’t have this problem

That about right.
I paid
$250 cleaning
$300 for surgery to take two teeth out of my
Dogs mouth.

I've had three dogs that lived 12 or more years and never had a cleaning recommended. Sounds like BS. It might cause some sort of issue but probably not in the large majority of dogs.
Well that settles it. You’re anecdotal evidence is clear proof that dental hygiene is a sham.
Imagine if you actually had a veterinary degree.
