Very important: what is the proper numbering system for ranking a pic? (NSFW)

It's come to my attention that everyone hasn't been rating pictures using the same format so we need to clear this up.
Method 1: count up from left to right and rank from highest priority to lowest using those numbers
So for the pic above, 312 would mean right is best, left is in between, middle is worst.
Method 2: work from left to right and assign a priority as they stand
So for the pic above, 312 would mean left is worst, middle is best, right is in between.
In my opinion, method 1 is the only correct way. Method 2 is what a serial killer would use.
I'll hang up and listen.
ETA: for clarity, here's another example with 4 girls
In this pic, I like the girl 2nd from the left best, then far right, then far left, then 2nd from the right.
Using method 1 I would describe that as 2413.
Using method 2 i would describe that as 3142.
Make more sense now?

You simply go left to right and assign the number in the order that you would hit it. So, start with the first one, rate her, give her that number. Go to the next one, rate her, assign her number and so on. So for this example I like the first chick the best so she gets 1. I like the middle chick the second best so she gets 2. So it would be 1,2,3 for me.

I think method 2 is more spatially apparent. Everyone intuitively knows number order but using method one they have to constantly look back at the pic to reference chick order left to right. Method 2 let's you memorize the order and apply it while looking at the pic.
