Other than prop driven aircraft, the A7 was the aircraft flight deck personnel always gave extra space to when crossing in front of during flt ops.

Need some cool posters of planes or cool WW2 movie posters (like Kelly's Heroes and such)for the wall. Frame them up nice.

Would look really good.

I’ve been debating on what to put in there. I’m thinking though of hiring someone to come in and build shelves into the walls.

I may be doing some models soon. Been wanting to get into it. Seems like a nice, relaxing hobby.

It’s a great way to unplug and unwind. When I’m at my model desk, I like to either listen to music or a good podcast. Right now I’m on episode V of Dan Carlin’s “Supernova in the East” about the Pacific camphor WWII. The thing I like is that when I’m in my model room working on kit, I don’t think about work, worries, or anything other than listening to my podcast and the model on my desk. It’s perfect relaxation.

Looks great, DV. Are any of those armaments actual live rounds?

I hope not. I’d hate one to go off in there.

Such an ugly platform to take the iconic Corsair name. It definitely got the job done, just so un sexy.

Yep. She wasn’t as sexy as the F-14 or the F-4, that’s for sure. But she put in the work and did her job well.

Thank you Vader for showing all of your models, they are all top notch. I always look forward to them and the discussions that follow. Couldn't reply to many of them because of a ban but man, you do awesome work.

Thanks! I’m glad you like it!

I really like the panel lines and how grimy you made it. Good job on the cockpit glass as well. That's always the biggest headache for me when it comes to model planes.

If you’re into armor or aircraft, you can’t go wrong with Tamiya. The fit is always perfect and their instructions easy to follow. I also like Academy, Italeri, Trumpeter, and Meng.

As for cars and such, I never build those unless someone asks me to build one for them. But I think Tamiya is good in that category as well.

Awesome. You’ll need some tools as well. There’s a number of good starter kits on Amazon. This is a good one…

As for paints, I prefer Tamiya acrylics. You’ll also want to get Tamiya Extra thin cement. This is a must. It’s the best cement you can use. It works great.

If you want some tips on getting started, there’s a ton of good instructional videos on YouTube.

That’s interesting. It’s not that often you hear someone say the A7 is their favorite. Usually it’s something like a F4 Corsair, P-51 Mustang, or a newer airframe like an F-15 or F-16. I have to ask what about the A7 makes it your favorite?

FWIW, I’m also a fan of lesser known aircraft. If I had to choose a favorite, I’d have to say the Douglas TBD Devastator.

It’s a rather obscure early war American torpedo bomber and was an abject failure. Not many of them were built before it was retired from front line service in 1942. But there is something about its look that I just like.

Fantastic as always.
Good to see you build a jet, but your first love is clearly WW2

Thank. And yes, I’m very much a WWII guy. As soon as I put this build on the shelf, I laid out a 1:35 scale M3 Lee to do next.

M3 Lee to do next
—Have you read “An Army at Dawn” about the N Africa campaign? Those Lee, Grant and Stuart tanks felt a lot of pain

Excellent book. I read it a few months ago followed by the second in the series “Day of Battle”. I haven’t read the final book of Atkinson s trilogy though “The Guns at Last Light”. I’m current reading “To Conquer Hell”, a book by Edward G. Lengel that covers Pershing’s Meuse-Argonne Offensive in 1918. When I’m done with it, I’m looking forward to finishing the trilogy. Rick Atkinson is a great writer.
