A U.S. Air Force B-52H Stratofortress successfully released an AGM-183A Air-launched Rapid Response Weapon, or ARRW, off the Southern California coast, May 14. Following separation from the aircraft, the ARRW’s booster ignited and burned for expected duration, achieving hypersonic speeds five times greater than the speed of sound.

This is huge news for US military. That is the best US military hope for a fielded Hypersonic weapon in the near future.

Pretty sure I heard from somewhere that China and Russia already have hypersonic nuclear missiles and are capable of striking the US before we could retaliate.

Let me ask you this. What do you think the velocity of a ballistic missile and MIRV's are?

Mike Baker says that every single time he's on Joe Rogan. Says that it's the "worst case" scenario for the US, our bases and cities could get pummeled hard into oblivion before we could even get near the commands to retaliate it'd happen so quick.

Hell yeah. Gonna re-engine these with Rolls Royce engines pretty soon.

Amazing they used a plane which first rolled off the assembly line in 1955 to launch a state of the art weapon.

Easily the greatest military aircraft ever conceived.

I'd like to hear your argument for this.

Is it the biggest bird in US military history?

We will be flying them another 30-40years. It will be the only military aircraft to be in active service for 100 years or more.

I no longer believe any claims about Russian military technology.

Why is that? I thought they were built to have long distance capabilities and large payloads. Seems like the tech is so superior now. Why not more planes like the B1 and B2?

I expect a lot of folks that don’t know why they’re talking about to respond to this thread.

Somehow I missed where you said C-130 in your post. My apologies if I didn't see it.

B2 won't be around much longer. Costs way too much to maintain.

No doubt.

But, I started taking magnesium again recently and my morning glory was, no doubt, hypersonic. Pretty sure the echo is still going.

Read an article saying the first B-21s will be flying sometime later this year.
