One summer when I worked at the public library, a woman of the night used to come in with her two small sons. She’d read to them and I’d give them crafting supplies. She would come in everyday. One day she was leaving with a guy, and the older boy ran to my desk and grabbed my arm - he didn’t want to leave.
It broke my heart. For our summer reading raffle, her son won a gift card to Walmart . So I kept calling her phone but it had been shut off. Raffle prizes had to be picked up before a certain date but I kept it for her.
She came in a few weeks later with the boys, a black eye, and a missing tooth. I gave her the gift card and she hugged me and cried. (I was not charged for the hug
and all my coworkers made fun of me for hugging a hooker 
) Eventually I saw she had been arrested.

If divorce was extremely beneficial to women, the divorce rate would plummet. Very simple.
