Article - apparently Kohberger lawyer also represented Maddie Mogens mom and dad at one point and dropped Kernodle’s mom as an active client her to take the Kohberger case. That is improper under the rules of professional conduct. I think they could try and have the lawyer disqualified from repping Kohberger

This is from a few day ago but just read it. The brother and sister going back to Idaho without their brother, triplet, & fellow student with support of parents and friends appeals to me. It’s still sad obviously, but it’s about overcoming a tragedy while moving forward mixed in a little at least for me with giving the finger to SOB who murdered their brother. The parents just came back from first weekend seeing their kids after taking them back to college a couple of weeks ago.

quote:

The mother of Idaho murder victim Ethan Chapin on Monday reflected on what she described as a "challenging time" sending two of her three triplets back to the University of Idaho after Ethan's Nov. 13 death.

Chapin, 20, was one of four university students — including his girlfriend, 20-year-old Xana Kerndodle, and her roommates, 21-year-old Madison Mogen and 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves — who were stabbed to death in the early morning hours of Nov. 13 in a home near campus.

"We were recently told to look for a victory every day – even if it is the tiniest little victory. It is admittedly challenging some days, but excellent advice," Chapin's mother, Stacy Wells Chapin, said in a Monday Facebook post along with photos of her family.

She and her husband, Jim Chapin, agreed "early on" that Ethan's triplets, Maizie and Hunter, had to return to school at the University of Idaho, where Ethan was also a student. While "it all felt tricky at the time," after two months since Ethan's death on Nov. 13, "it became clear" they made the right decision, Wells Chapin wrote.

… "The thought was to stay close and connected but allow the kids space to heal at their own pace. So, we’ve just arrived home from our first college visit since we dropped them off. In true Chapin form, all were welcome, and we fed 20 kids a home-cooked meal on Thursday night," she wrote. "On Friday, we spent time with Maizie and some of her friends. Over the long weekend, we enjoyed coffee dates, walks, long conversations and hugs. We spent time remembering Ethan and sharing stories. There were many victories."

… "We’re grateful they have each other at school, fraternity and sorority friends, and other amazing support systems. … They are each processing this new normal in their own way, and that’s okay. Our job as parents is to be there and provide tools and resources as needed,"

She continued: "The healing is day by day, and some days are easier than others. This morning, the sunrise was beautiful. We will take that as today’s victory."

The man accused of killing four University of Idaho students last November allegedly had pictures of one of the female victims on his phone, a source familiar with the investigation tells PEOPLE.

A phone that belonged to Bryan Kohberger was collected after his arrest. According to the source, authorities found pictures of the victim on the device. The source did not specify whether they were photos that he had taken of her or if they were downloaded from her social media.

"He had more than one picture of her," the source says. "It was clear that he was paying attention to her."

What’s the point of bashing the victims’ families in this thread?

it's also been reported that it was ethan's best friend who actually found ethan's and xana's bodies, yelled for somebody to call 911, and spoke to the dispatcher...

Has to suck to be that property owner. The house is now probably impossible to rent or sell. It’s not like there’s an insurance claim you can make for the house having almost no value now.

Bryan Kohberger, the criminology Ph.D. candidate accused of stabbing four University of Idaho students to death last November, could face execution by firing squad if he is convicted of the murders and a bill introduced this week clears the Idaho state legislature.

Republican state Rep. Bruce Skaug introduced House Bill 186 on Wednesday, which would establish execution by firing squad as a backup to lethal injection.

Was Ann Taylor representing Xana’s interests in a civil suit and now she’s the criminal defense attorney for Kohberger?

She is the only person in the county who is legally qualified to defend the accuser. There are no other public defenders to pick from.

For anyone:

Is she really get paid double to defend him or does the huge increase cover expected increase with expenses to defend and not directly increasing her pay/salary? It seems like increases would be budgeted for but not necessarily spent, and most reports are framed as $200 being her new rate to defend him. It just seems strange

quote:

"I was very surprised and let me tell you why. She is a government county employee. I can tell you that the law enforcement officers that were investigating that case, so 60 FBI agents, the same detectives, their salary's did not get doubled because they were working a quadruple homicide.

…Public Defender's salary is $119-$170k/year. For BK's case, she'll receive $200/hr for 40hrs/week or $384k/yr paid by Latah County. Her co-counsel to receive $180/hour. Haven't seen such a precedent IME.

Is she full time or part time? If part time, maybe to make up for loss of business in her private practice because of spending so much time on this. Just an idea, IDK.
