We called it pencil break, and I was one of the best in my grade. We even held a tournament with a 25 cent entry fee and I won it.
My proudest moment in 7th grade. Some dudes like to take the eraser out and chew on the metal to press it together to help cut into it better. I wasn't a fan as I would usually break them in 1 hit if I had my good pencil. Certain ones were stronger than the others. My grandma had some old school pencils that wrote like a wet dream but they also were super strong and the best for pencil break. None of the other kids had any like that and I think that was the main reason for me dominating them.
Another good game we would play were slaps, and thumps. I was decent at thumps but one dude was double jointed in his fingers and was by far the best at thumps. Like no one ever had a chance against him, it was crazy how much harder he could thump. Made me always wonder if a pitcher could be double jointed in his arm or fingers and could give him an extreme advantage. These boomer kids today don't know nothing about these fun kid games since they all glued to they phones now.

Anybody else ever pencil fight with the big dipper? We would do dipper vs dipper and also dipper vs regular pencil with the regular getting 5 hits to 1 vs the dipper.
You could actually crack the big dipper with a regular pencil if you were really good and went against someone that couldn't break yours in the first two Hits. Against someone that was good, your regular pencil was gone on that first lick from the big dipper.
