Is the DA asking for the death penalty?

What happened to the cop who initially arrested Boys? He was in trouble for not turning over some ammunition to Evidence. What was that all about? Is he in trouble for not properly searching Boys and missing the gun used to kill Holloway? What a mess ...

Saw a FaceBook Live video a couple of hours ago. I missed the very beginning, but I think it was Holloway's wife or maybe a female relative. She read a really nice statement thanking everyone who worked the case and also asked for people to remember Boys' family in their prayers. She closed with, "and to Travis Boys ... May God have mercy on you soul."

Well prepared and delivered statement.

No death penalty. The family asked for the case to be tried sooner than later, so death was taken off the table to allow it to not be continued for a decade.

Wardell Johnson has pled guilty to obstruction of justice and malfeasance and is awaiting sentencing of up to 40. Failed to conduct any search after responding to the initial call because he wanted to go home. Ditched the .40 rounds out of his window while being followed by IAD.

Essentially, the defense strategy was to try to blame Wardell Johnson for the murder, and for putting poor little mentally disabled Travis in that situation by not taking away the gun he had concealed in his pants. That strategy went over horribly with the jury, especially when the state played his jail calls from the past few days after the trial. Jury had been staring at an actor hanging his head looking sad and confused for a week, and then heard him right after he'd leave court playing multiple women on the phone and using words like "copacetic" despite his attorneys claiming he had an IQ in tbe 50s.

I have an idea of what copacetic means but I’d definitely google it before using it here

Holloway was doing a favor for the other cop and ended up dead because of it. It's just a sad story.

The guy who killed Nicola Cotton was found incompetent and will spend the remainder of his days in Jackson. That was another shitty NOPD officer death. That poor woman fought with that guy for some ridiculous length of time (I don't remember exactly how long, but it was 5 or 10 minutes) and nobody cane to her assistance. That guy had been crazy for a long time. In and out of jail, in and out of mental hospitals. He ought to be put out of his own and the public's misery.
