A new study suggests transgender women maintain an athletic advantage over their cisgender peers even after a year on hormone therapy.

The results, published last month in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, could mean the current one-year waiting period for Olympic athletes who are transitioning is inadequate.

“For the Olympic level, the elite level, I'd say probably two years is more realistic than one year,” said the study's lead author, Dr. Timothy Roberts, a pediatrician and the director of the adolescent medicine training program at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. “At one year, the trans women on average still have an advantage over the cis women," he said, referring to cisgender, or nontransgender, women.

Roberts began investigating the athletic performance of transgender men and women while in the Air Force, working under co-author and physician Lt. Col. Joshua Smalley at a clinic coordinating care for airmen beginning or continuing their gender transition.

Who could've guessed?

Coming soon from Dr. Timothy Roberts in 2022..."I'd say probably three years is more realistic than two years."

It's going to be sad when cis-girls are bumped from their teams and/or denied scholarships in favor of some hairy broad with 22 inch biceps and a man-gina.

The British Journal of Sports Medicine is a transphobic, homophobic, racist, anti-Islamic, anti-immigrant, anti-women publication that's being used as a tool of the European white male patriarchy to subjugate immigrants, people of color, and all members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Until we put an end to this so called "science" (which was clearly created by bigoted white western males), we will never have an inclusive society where all people are equal and accepted.

Uh, I wouldn't bet on it. If they are truly an elite athlete training at an elite level, a couple of years of any therapy isn't going to eliminate the physical advantage of being a Male.

Maybe the only possibility to eliminate that advantage would be for them to cease training altogether, or start hormone therapy before or around puberty, which would be child abuse.

frick these people.

The only way to end this is to accelerate it's inevitable conclusion. I say there are no rules. Athletes can compete in the divisions in which they feel most comfortable.

The study fails to consider the 20 years of growth that took place PRIOR to the hormone treatment.

It's just another oppressive tool of the patriarchy. They use arbitrary rules like "proper grammar" and "correct spelling" as societal barriers that keep poor minorities and immigrants from succeeding in the white Western hetero world.
