What the hell is with the influx of drivers towing clunkers every night on the interstate? How is this legal?

Most of the time, they're driving 15mph lower than the speed limit towing 3 cars behind some ragged out SUV tied together with bungee cords. To make it worse, these dudes caravan in lines of 4 to 5 cars at a time, which makes passing them a challenge of its own. Anyone have an idea of where they are taking these things?

Probably back to Mexico where they can mark them up about 80%

How though? Don't most of our cars already come from Mexico?

You would think it wouldn't be necessary.

Strapping two corollas to a minivan and making the trip back to Mexico is a rite of passage for Mexicans much like a bar mitzvah is a rite of passage for white people. Don’t be a bigot

I've actually seen this a couple of times with Indian-looking dudes.

As dangerous as it looks, consider this: it was either used cars or cardiology.

saw that this weekend 3x in Alabama. They park the caravan on the side of the interstate at the exact same spot every day apparently.

They buy insurance salvage cars at auction and take them back to Mexico. Lots of them are flood cars or have been wrecked.

You can buy them dirt cheap on a salvage title.

By taking them to Mexico you don't need to pay to retitle them in the US.

This is likely. I live in Germany and they have many tow trucks from Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Bulgaria that pick up vehicles that are between 5-15 years old bring them across the border and mark up these vehicles big time. With EU countries starting to phase out Deisel vehicles Africa is the new hotspot where they can send vehicles and turn a crazy profit.

See it all the time on IH35 in TX. We call it "Mexican NASCAR".

Wait until December...the tow vehicles will be piled up with bikes and other toys...Santos Claus comin' to town!

You know when you pass someone, they turn and look at you? Not these guys. They will never glance over when you pass.
