I wouldn't mind another December 2008 snow in Madisonville. We got six inches of snow that year. It was great! A snow like that every few years would be perfect.

From Meteorologist Zack Fradella: SIBERIAN EXPRESS - the signal is there for Arctic air to come pouring out of Canada over the next two weeks. Check out the cold linkage (blue/purple) from the North Pole all the way down to the Gulf Coast! The specifics on how cold, exactly when—those small details will take some time to iron it but you can’t ignore the cold signal coming. Many have asked, is it going to “S”? Nobody knows, the models don’t know, we don’t know but I do know the first ingredient is to get really cold air and that seems to be coming. Keep it tuned to the weather!

We also had a substantial wintry mix a month later in mid January of 2018. The official snow total was 0.5"

It got down to 14 degrees the following morning.

This was a disappointing storm with a ton of potential except for the warm nose. There was rain, snow, and sleet at 27 degrees. The worst.

The Weather Channel keeps the snow for two consecutive updates.

Imagine if this run actually verifies? Rivaling our all time record low in BR of 2°F in 1899

-2 degrees in Lafayette and 22 degrees in Houma, and 30 in New Orleans? that doesn't seem right.

Probably historical level extreme cold event, but we have plenty of time to watch & hope it moderates, leaves us alone. Canada --> Yikes! ??

That big lake blocks all of the fun winter events.
