Fufu tacos aren't real tacos. Give me the Fuel City street tacos over Torchys and Velvet all day.

Torchys is good for what it is - overstuffed tacos and queso. It’s not the same thing as street tacos.

I've found that the best tacos around here are at hole in the wall Mexican places where almost nobody speaks English.

Absolutely

That said i frick w torchy’s. The salsas and different sauces are good. If you’re in Austin and want some amazing hole in the wall tacos check out Rosita’s al pastor on E Riverside...restaurant and a truck

Did Torchy's ever open a location in BR? I thought they announced plans to do that about a year ago.

They’ve been expanding. I knew they were branching out when they decided to open their first Louisiana location in freaking lake Charles of all places.

Shreveport been had that baw.

Edit: google says that BR does have one, I didn't realize that. I don't see any in Lake Charles but Google could be wrong, unless we're talking about a different Torchy's. Arkansas based Slim Chicken needs to rapidly expand into La so I don't have to drive to West Monroe everytime I need my buffalo chicken and Oreo jar.

What are we talking here? Like 3 or 4 a pop for a meh taco?
$5-6 for an overloaded street taco. So $5-6 for a taco for the same amount of food you get from rando Mex joints for $2.

2 tacos with chips and salsa for $13. Will pass.

lol no. This is bad news for Torchys fans. The quality is going to drop like a turd in a toilet bowl just like when Freebirds did their massive expansion.

I wouldn't mind going to the Velvet on Henderson now and then if the layout wasn't so cramped and if it wasn't run by dickheads.

Even w/that Velvet being right down the way from me I'd rather make the drive to El Mariachi over on Singleton if I'm going to get a non Tex Mex taco.

Prices have risen to $5-6 a taco which is crazy. I’ve been eating Torchy’s for years but there are plenty alternatives in Dallas.

Meh...
If you go there expecting authentic Tex-Mex style food you’re an idiot.

If you go expecting things like fried chicken tacos covered in queso and brisket tacos with onions you will be happy

The tacos are pretty big so $12 for a meal isn’t that crazy.
