It makes sense when you actually read the article and find it is a list of top ten destinations for travel.

I wondered what criteria would put New Orleans at #2, until I realized this is from Travel & Leisure. NOLA has always been considered a great place to visit, tough place to live.

I'm biased, because I lived there before. But, for someone who makes good money and can afford the live in the best neighborhoods and send your kids to the best schools, New Orleans is a pretty great place to live, IMO.

Now, if you are talking about living there as someone who makes average money, no definitely not.

The frick criteria are they using?

If you click the link, it is a USA Today article about a Travel + Leisure Magazine ranking of top cities people want to visit.

From that perspective the list is plausible, a combination of history, culture, food, touristy shite. Not actually moving to these cities and raising a family or retiring.

Fun fact: there is no Popeye’s in the Santa Fe area. That tells you something about the folks that live there

I think this is supposed to be best cities for travel and leisure, yes? Not best cities overall. Makes more sense when looking from a travel lens.

Now, not all of the time has been particularly recent, but I have been to every city on that list except Santa Fe and Greenville. I've spent a decent amount of time in most of them, except those 2 and Asheville.

I can see folks digging Charleston, Savannah, Honolulu and even NYC. The rest, the juice isn't worth the squeeze, New Orleans and Chicago particularly. Alexandria, for example, just as bland and meh as it gets. The largest suburb in history.

It's a list of places to visit for the second half of 2025. It's proabaly got N.O. that high because of the terror attacks and our tourism council or someone paid for the ranking.

NOLA owes it all to LaToya taking trips to cities all over the world to incorporate their culture and ways back into NOLA

It's hard to put a price tag on the multiple dividends paid through that Ghana trip.
