Lynn “fell backward and never returned to the call,” according to police.

Detectives are “working closely with the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office concerning any charges which may be appropriate for the owner of the firearm,” said police. Local NBC affiliate WESH-2 reported the weapon belonged to the children’s father.

Oof. Not sure on the laws there, but there's a chance those kids are gonna be without both parents.

Does leaving a loaded handgun for your toddler to play with qualify as "Play stupid games" territory?

If it was a semi-auto, I think what's relevant was that it had a round in the chamber.

Wow terrible story. This would also be a hell of a way to get away with murder. I’m curious how old the toddler was? Makes you wonder how often kids shoot guns in the house and not hit someone. Certainly toddlers know to aim at someone but to still hit them is not easy.

Nothing says American Justice like orphaning a child that accidentally killed his mother by throwing his father in jail.
