do you sometimes look at those who came after and pity them for missing out on what was the absolute apex height of human civilization? I know I do.

It was a helluva party. People enjoyed life, didn't over analyze things, and Kids were allowed to be kids.

The drug of the 80's was Coke

White collar/1% couldn't get enough of it. I remember going to a party in one of the rich neighborhoods, asking where i should put our cooler, and all they had was wine /hard shite, and a pile of coke on the kitchen table.

It was all they needed, so we had ALL the beer to ourselves.

Yeah. We had free reign of the neighborhood from the time we were 8 or so. Could ride our bikes anywhere we wanted with our Benjamin/Sheridan pellet guns and nobody stopped us. Today some Karen would call the cops.

Afterparties in the clubs. Would close, covertly open an hour later and anything was fair game. Coke was everywhere.

There was none of this "gender neutral" bullshite.

I feel like the gender neutral stuff is almost insulting to girls. I grew up in the 80s and was a complete tomboy. I had three older brothers, so I liked boy toys. When I would walk into the toy store, I would go straight for the boy aisle. It never occurred to me to think, “Oh, I can’t have that because it’s on the boy aisle.” I always thought, “Ok great. Boy stuff. That’s what I want.” I find the idea insulting that girls are so timid that they won’t play with the stuff they like unless someone labels it a girl toy.

my moms only rule: Be home by sundown.

Hell that was broken many times also. I guess growing up in the backwoods there wasn't alot to worry about in those days.

The glorious thing was that your parents didn't know where you were and had no way to get in touch with you all day and that was completely normal.

It would suck, but I’d take the lack of modern technology of then over the woke ridiculous reality we live in now any day of the week.

Not really

You could use a pager, or as i had, a voice pager. And instead of a cell phone, you had a pay phone.

No need to pay for calls, call collect, use the automated system, and tell whoever ur calling the info on the,"this collect call is from" and they would get info, refuse collect call, and either ur ride was on it's way, or they knew what was up.

Street smarts/common sense got us thru

It was lighter than haro,gt, and dyno. Loved that, we used to ride from SoCo to Clayton every day in summer.
