Black Panther and The Passion of the Christ should definitely elicit similar emotional responses.

I'm not sure how the emotional responses are similar. No weeping in the aisles. No people fainting. Except one group leaves the theater more proud and inspired to be Christian and one leaves more proud and inspired to be black. The horror.

I think the photo is probably real.

On GMA they have shown black people in traditional African garb lining up to see it and actually having choreographed dances in the lobby before and after.

The black community is going nuts over this film. (I specifically didn't say "bananas" or "apeshit", because that would be wrong)

Nothing too bad. A few "kangz", a few dindus, a few jokes about none of them having jobs. Just a typical OT topic.

You specifically used both, but in a context that you might get a laugh from the "not racist" posters but also to make sure you avoid being banned.

Why do you say that? I think a display of black power hands is probably leaning to the negative side of pride, but I am all for movies that inspire blacks to become the best version of themselves. I hope it works.

They probably shouldn't even be included in the same whataboutism, since they are so incredibly different.

Do you see white people doing group shite like black people. Such a hive mentality. No individualism.

Yep suuuure, I see white people doing white power gestures all the time these days; when I go to the grocery store, at restaurants, at Costco, on the golf course... Us white people can't get enough of holding out our arms and shite.

So your examples of white individualism are Costco and golf courses?

Good lord, the movie was good but they're taking a black superhero in a fictional universe wayyyy too seriously.

You could legit say this about anything. I don't see why this of all things is being taken too seriously.

I figure if we white folks were only 12.5% of the population, we'd be more inclined to gravitate toward members of our own race as well.

Cool, good for you. I'm no SJW. If you aren't using the pride you have in your ethnicity as an excuse to harm other ethnicities, then by all means be proud to be white. I'm an equal-opportunity provider.

We have a whole bunch of em that we keep secret from others. The head nod in passing really means "hello white brother, do you do the charleston?" If you smile with half your face, it generally means your golf game is on the rise.
