Theoretically, if I shoot a pitbull that’s come onto my property and I perceive as aggress

Aggressive what kind of issues am I dealing with?The thing barks and takes an aggressive posture toward my dog and my wife at times. I have to get out there and run it off.
If it came to shooting this thing. What kind of ordeal would I be looking at? Dog seems to free reign the neighborhood. Reports that someone has already been bitten before (don’t know if same dog).
I’m thinking my private property. If it’s menacing, I’m within my rights to put it down. What am I missing here?
I’d go talk to the neighbors down the way. They own the pitbull and they probably trashy.

I thought shooting dogs is LEO job. Their union won't like you doing the work without compensation.

call animal control and report a viscous dog thats terrorizing your family and pets
this gives you cover when you shout the trash because the cops will want to see a history of something being reported to back up your claim of self defense
