The World War II generation is almost gone...

I found the stories from the Great Depression and Second World War that my maternal grandparents told me over the years to be downright fascinating. It's really crazy and sad to think that the living history from that period is about to disappear forever from this earth.

From 1941-1945, some 16 million Americans served in the military in an effort to defeat the Axis Powers. In 2023, fewer than 165,000 of those military veterans remain alive. If you know anyone from this period of history who is still around, talk to these men and women, and learn from them. The wisdom they have to pass onto you will soon be gone forever.

This is something that has poked its head up in my consiensness every now and again and legitimately stresses me out a bit.

No doubt an untellable wealth of knowledge that just never got passed on will vanish.

Very happy to say we got a lot out of my grandfather before he passed. Finally talked about it in his last few years. Even found all his military papers, awards, pics, etc, and put them in huge frames.

My favorite pic is from the European Theater after Germany surrendered. He's pulling down a Nazi flag off of some building, but we don't know what/where. Didn't get that information from him, unfortunately.

Before he passed, he did have the pleasure of being called a "Nazi" by one of the blue-haired idiots that worked at the retirement home he was staying at. Unfortunately for him, he got to see what he fought for destroyed before he passed. I will always wish nothing but the worst for leftists after that incident.

When I was a kid, I loved talking to old people in my neighborhood. Got a perspective that is invaluable.

So many questions I would ask my grandparents now if they were still alive. I am thankful that I got to know all 4 of them and they weren't gone until I was in my upper teens and early 20s.

It's really sad. We had season tickets to UK football and sat next to a Pearl Harbor survivor and his wife. Had amazing stories about that day and the days that followed.

He died about 5 years ago.

It's very upsetting. I'm down to 2 WW2 veteran patients and they're both 98 and quite frail.

What's crazy to me is that all of the Vietnam vets are in their mid 80's now.

We're so fricked

Sad and depressing.

Should have never let women vote, even today you look at their voting habits and participation in aggressive antifa et al protests / riots, women running off to join ISIS a few years ago, etc.

Those emotional creatures are gullible as frick and completely vulnerable to propaganda. Just look how they vote and there you have it.

Not even going into how up in arms they were about muh vaccine and how so many are all in on this tranny bs. Ruled and governed by emotion and pussy is undefeated. Just a bad fricking combination.

I'd want to throttle that fricking blue hair. It would be worth the jail time.

Apologize for the down vote . Early morning fat finger. Their wisdom and life experience is irreplaceable.

It’s very sad. When those who were part of history pass you lose your connection to it.

Even more ironic: he voted Democrat his whole life, including voting for Obama. LOLOLOLOL

There were a group of old men that would play cards daily in an commons area at the home. One day someone put it on Fox News, and that triggered the blue hair. The guys playing cards weren't even paying attention to the TV. Likely couldn't hear it.
