So, no one in China works and earns a wage to survive on? Hmmm...

Or they could operate at lower margins until things return to normal

I was at a Houston steak house Saturday--the owner told the crowd to encourage anyone they know to apply for a job there.
Then he said, "this is what happens when the government pays people to stay home."

This is govt ineptness at the highest level. We need change.

You are really dense

$25/hr with benefits for someone straight out of high school for a very low skilled job is pretty damn good pay IMO. Yet myself and many of my colleagues are getting zero interest. 18 months ago I would have had my door broke down with applicants.
It’s a fricking easy job. Suck spit, make sure instruments get cleaned and sterilized, and only have to show up 4 days a week.
I refuse to pay more than that. I’ll just keep doing it myself.

Wow, you’re a fricking moron. It’s almost impressive.

Lol, that’s the same boat I am in right now. Problem is that I am getting run ragged working 4 different jobs all at once

Did it ever occur to you that there is a risk/reward tradeoff, and below a certain point it becomes untenable to remain in business?

I'd say you're doing all you can if you're offering those wages
How many hours does the job offer?

I was going to saw you in half for that ignorant post, but I see several others beat me to it.

They get paid for 40 regardless of how much they work. They probably work less than 35 even on the busiest week.

Hard to believe someone is as dumb as you apparently are. I’d call you a troll, but I don’t think you’re that smart.

It's just that simple to you, isn't it?
If you're of the belief that this labor shortage is temporary and due to UE benefits then certainly it would be worth saving your business by operating at lower margins for a couple of months

hes in here arguing that a restaurant that had to close its fricking doors permanently should have paid their servers a little more to stay open. The best was saying welders wont go back to work at prevailing national rates because he thinks those rates are too low.

The businesses that were forcibly shut down for the better part of a year?
Yes I'm sure they have plenty of capital reserves to float these artificially inflated wages until the government finally decides to stop shoveling money at people.

It wasn't before the pandemic.

I didn't say that
I was referring to businesses in general
If you can't find people to work for you, it's at least partially your fault

I'm saying they won't go for the 16-17 you're offering
What skilled worker would put up with such shite pay?

One that doesn't have a government check coming in the mail.
