from my experience sometimes transplants from the north say stuff like this when they come down here. just makes me think they've been fed this very simple view of southerners their whole life. They definitely look down on us from the point of race relations even though their communities are often 98% white. go figure

I'm just curious about this phenomenon. I've heard it too many times for it to be a coincidence.

From what I hear regarding places like Chicago, it seems pretty similar to our major cities in the south.

My friend is an Arab who grew up in the streets of NOLA when he was fresh off the boat.

Most arab people that I know are pretty racist, but I'd bet that this guy has hung out with black folks more than whites or arabs.

I speculated the same as you the other times that I'd hear it, but this guy blew my mind when he said it too.

Northern cities are more segregated then southern cities. So mixing outside of work isnt normal.

The north is far more racist than the south, in my opinion. And it's not hard to notice either.

The Northeast is more racist than the South these days.

And not just a black and white thing, but I have heard more racial slurs from them than any where else in this country.
