I’d say it’s more range and charge time. The US is vast. Might make sense if you don’t travel much or commute long distance

Wonder if you could clothes pin playing cards so they hit the spokes?

It’s been a long while since I’ve driven over a long distance. If it’s over a fee hundred miles then I’m flying anyway. Much more convenient for me to get to one of the airports close by.

I could see maybe getting an EV when my commuting vehicle craps out, but I would still want the road trip vehicle for trips back to Louisiana or to the beach or anywhere else.

I make 400+ mile one way trips pretty regularly in my vehicle.

Talking with a client this week who has a BMW EV and they give him access to a gas car 2 weeks per year for longer road trips.

Buddy of mine is general manager of a Chevy/GMC/Buick dealership. He says they’re disposable.

An out of warranty Chevy Volt needs a battery at another dealership under the same owner. He said it would cost $33,000. He probably exaggerated on the price some but I can easily see a Volt replacement battery being more than the value of the car after repair.

I wonder what the EV folks have to say about disposable cars.

I love electric motors. They have their place for small and large applications. Heck, they roll our freight trains and some large military vessels. I don’t think the time is right for an all EV America though.

Dealerships don't fix electric cars. They just replace parts.

A $20 sensor goes out the dealership replaces a 20k battery.

Yeah, but with an EV, you get an 8 hour break halfway there.

A manufactured battery cell for a prius is $35 and is not much more difficult to change out than a regular car battery

If they could get the battery replacement down to say 2000 dollars then EV's would take off. Until they can do that no way.

Simple, install those speed strip things like in F-Zero, we'll all be fine.

Don’t know how to link but ChevyGuide says average battery replacement cost on a volt is $19,000+ with a new factory battery replacement running up to $35,000.

Your using references for traditional mechanics. For an electric car you are dealing with part mechanic part computer tech part electrician.
