Right, the issue is stupid people here who let a car run out of charge or gas.

I want a Tesla for my wife's next vehicle. They are bad arse, especially the interior. And quick. I'll just tell her not to be a dumbass and drive it until there is no charge just like you don't drive your Jeep until there's no gas. She's pretty smart.

I have a salesman that thinks electric vehicles are the dumbest thing ever.

"I mean what do you do if you're at a friends house and you run out of battery? You going to just charge it at his house ?"

Well I'll probably do just like I do now when I don't drive my vehicle over to your house with no gas, I wont drive it over on no charge.

Two of those are hotel parking lots. Guess they added a few small chargers there recently because they used to not be there. Wonder if you have to be a guest at the hotel to use the chargers.

Yep. Not going to claim an EV is the world's greatest roadtrip car but if you're just using it as a commuter car and slow-charging every night (as if it were an iPhone) the odds of this occurring are pretty much obsolete

People love to make every excuse. How often do people just go to a friend's house that is 100s of miles round-trip?

Not that you can't do that either.

It's not for everyone in every location but if it's just a daily commuter, it'll work just fine for 99% of people.

Is there a generator powering the power station?

What will you do during an emergency like a hurricane or something?

I think Hybrids are better than all-electric FYI. Not sure why they aren't pushed harder. My wife drives a Prius and loves it. 50+ MPG is pretty sweet

WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO FOR A HURRICANE EVACUATION

Meanwhile people are literally getting murdered in Metairie after waiting in line at the gas station for 3 hours days after ida rolled through

This is absolutely the right and common sense answer. You can get a pickup to 25 or so MPG, and cars go over 40. Not sure why they think all electric is such a good idea. Fine for commuters I guess, but not really practical for a lot of people.

So now people will just get murdered at a charging station?

Not sure what your point has to do with your car being useless during a 2 week power outage

After Laura and Delta, we were without power for 6 weeks.

Probably just drive away if it doesn’t look like the power is coming back soon. Or if I have one just fire up the generator and chill at home.

Usually no but sometime yes.

And even if you technically need to, they don't really care or notice to stop anyone from what I've heard or encountered.

Not an issue for me. I wouldn’t be staying somewhere more than a day or two without power. If power isn’t being restored for 2 weeks I’ll secure the compound as best I can and then head out.

For sure. I have a gas truck and my next vehicle is going to be a gas truck, but I think a lot of the EV's are super nice and I would definitely own one. Plus there are environmental benefits (and negatives) that I can appreciate. But I believe in global warming so my stance isn't for everyone on TD

I hate going to the gas station. If all I had to do was drive around town, I'd love being able to avoid the gas station and just hook up my vehicle when I get home and never go to the gas station again.

Sure. Been there and done that.

I wonder what will happen next time there is gridlock during an evacuation and cars run out of power. Yes, I know gas cars do this too but again easier to bring a gas can to a car than power to an electric car.

I went to the gas station for the first time in probably 2 years last week to secure my Mega Millions tickets lol.

Never having to frequent gas stations is definitely a sneaky benefit to owning an EV.

I'd much much rather grin be in an EV in gridlock.

But also, how often are you literally stuck in traffic for 20+ hours that you'd make that some kind of decision making priority on a vehicle?

I think it's something to consider if you live in a hurricane-prone area like many here do.

I have to have at least a 3/4 ton for my business truck so that will always be what matters most to me. Electric trucks just won't have the power and distance to pull a load for my needs anytime soon and especially not at a justifiable cost.

My other ride is a Gladiator. Don't think I would care to take an electric vehicle on any trails.

You're only talking about worst possible case scenarios and even in that, a gas vehicle sucks too.

They aren't for everybody. They have their benefits and they have their drawbacks. But some of them are really nice and are pretty reasonably priced.

Most people buy a vehicle that fits their lifestyle. You know going into buying an EV what you're buying it for.

I'd be more concerned about a large radius of towns around me without power but fair.
