In another effort to deter crowds during what is historically New Orleans' busiest holiday period, the Audubon Institute is closing the fly for the final five days of the Mardi Gras season plus Ash Wednesday.

Where else will I be able to drink my fifth of Beam alone?

It’s amazing we’re shutting down huge green space when it will be 30-40 degrees out.

Communism is fun

I just want to drink alone and imagine this world doesn’t exist

Hahaha.

Probably my fault.

It was literally one year ago today when our biggest care in the world was tandem floats. I'd literally kill for that again

We will never forget the immortal chant from fans of Austin Peay University when Fly Williams was on their basketball team:

THE FLY IS OPEN
LET'S GO PEAY!!!

Move. Anyone still living in Orleans parish deserves what they get. You know better and choose to stay.

Is there any way in the future that a reasonable Democrat will ever be elected mayor in New Orleans? Maybe a Walt Leger (III, not Jr) type? Or has that ship sailed?

The college kids flock to the fly during Mardi Gras during normal years

They would have been there x1000 this year

They were always pedestrian only on Fat Tuesday.

Not sure if that's still the case.

The Algiers ferry is only pedestrian these days. Not sure how long ago, vehicles were allowed.
