The Florida coast where Milton is going is beautiful.

Traveled there a couple of years ago and it was obvious that a big storm hadn’t hit there in a while. Kind of like stepping back into the 80s with architecture…houses on each little parcel of land. Each of the barrier islands had a different feel. The furthest we went down was to Lido. This place is going to look very different this weekend:

Would be more beautiful without all the houses

Eta: That’s not a hope the hurricane wipes them out post. I’d say that with no hurricane coming also

I can see how awful my post sounds, not meaning it that way. Read the room Mushroom

I can’t remember the quaint little towns we passed through…Lodi was a bit more commercial. That inner island looks man made.

Sanibel literally got their bridge ripped out and the island almost completely vanished like 2 years. They have storms always

We were there right before that…they took a glancing blow on that one. I’m talking about really getting hit. Katrina removed the water and sewer headers in BSL. We had to replace all water, sewer, and gas lines to most of the town. We were on a bluff, so that may have made it worse. I guess erosion may be less of you’re simply under water.

Stayed at Lido Beach a few years ago.
It’s really sad what is about to happen to that beautiful area

Anna Marie and parts of Longboat were wiped out by Helene. Milton will finish LBK off and take Lido and Siesta with it.

I just went to that area a couple of months ago. definitely beautiful... unfortunately with all of the water its not the place you want to be with a cat 5 hurricane bearing down. that area is gonna be wiped out.

That's Lido/St. Armands Circle, which flooded during Helene. Hopefully a mircale happens and it doesn't get wiped out.

We were on the coast to visit IMG…that’s a nutty school to have to evacuate, most of those kids aren’t even remotely from there.

Been to IMG Academy a few times. Bradenton was a bit of a dump but the drive in from Tampa was pretty spectacular.

Terrible. All those nice canals too will just allow more and more surge to go inland.
And people will still stay.

Bradenton is where we lived for 13-14 years; moved to TX in 2019. Not a dump at all, but an old FL coastal town. Had a good mix of the old and new, and was proximate to Sarasota and Tampa/St.Pete. Miss being there, am praying for friends there today.
