Its more than that. One crazy part is that they created their own token which was, in reality, worthless but ran it on the balance sheet of three different companies showing it as liquid capital. A competitor also had a ton of the same token and dumped it all at once proving it was worthless which started the liquidity crunch or essentially a bank run on the exchange.
As I said it's a lot to summarize.
Also, everyone involved has parents that have deep democratic connections and SBF had said he was ready to spend up to a billion in 2024 to help Democrats get elected and keep the Presidency.

the kid hasn’t been taken into custody because they are trying to figure out what he knows and he is probably trying to negotiate some sort of deal. He’s dealing with powers he can’t comprehend and if he’s not careful he will get Epstein’d
