2015 = A perfect storm of GOP candidates beating the shite out of each other on the tail end of 8 years of Bobby Jindal and JBE sneaking into the runoff without so much as a single mailer and ad spot against him.
And the voters that decided that election seriously (and mistakenly) thought the cheap platitudes from JBE about west point honor code, aboriton, guns, not cutting taxes, and no cheating on your wife was all they needed to know to be comfortable with him.
2019 = C list candidates announcing way too late to build a legit campaign with with enough resources and funding and the lack of a galvanizing issue that would unseat the incumbent.
And even then, JBE lost 13 points from his 2015 margin and lost several parishes that he won in 2015 and would've lost overall if he didn't have massive black turnout in Orleans parish and Rispone did not go negative on Abraham and run a dumpster fire of a campaign.

JBEs second term falls squarely on lane grigsbys feet. Abraham wouldn’t commit to all of lanes demands and he let his PACs run Abraham in the ground in favor of his lap boy rispone. Blame JBE all you want, he’s just being the democrat we all know him to be. Lane grigsby and his political arm is everything that’s wrong with Louisiana.
