If this is true are we not getting to a point where the vaccine will be unnecessary?

NYPOST

quote:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) calculated that by the end of September there had really been as many as 53 million Americans contract the deadly bug — just under eight times the confirmed cases reported at the time.

Of those, the CDC believes about 45 million were sick at some point and about 2.4 million were hospitalized.

The true tally is likely now far higher, with November continually breaking case records across the US — with now 12,778,256 cases officially reported, according to Johns Hopkins University data Thursday morning.

If the CDC is correct about the number of missed cases, that would put the true number of infections in the US now closer to 100 million.

70-80% of the population gets every novel coronavirus. Masks don't prevent it. Social distancing doesn't prevent it. Closing schools and restaurants doesn't prevent it.

The only thing that prevents its spread is when enough people already have gotten it and gotten over it. They told us this at the beginning. But no one seems to remember.

So you get sick twice, lock it down forever.

Let’s just have CoronaBro parties like they use to have Chicken Pox parties back in the 50s & 60s and get this shite over with.

There have been very few confirmed cases of reinfection. There have been lots of people that had a false positive test, then later got covid. It is likely that you will be able to get it again at some point down the road, but it almost certainly will not make people very sick at that point due to cellular based immunity.

This is almost over.

Worldwide there have been more deaths from vending machines than certified cases of reinfection.

I think I had it for 4 hours one Sunday afternoon. Runny nose and headache which I never get. Had not worn mask day before in grocery store.

Shut downs were to slow the spread. Not stop the spread.

Even if you shut down the country it will persist and then come right back when you reopen. It is here now and it will not be going anywhere.

Kinda like we still have the common cold and the flu. Covid will be here forever.

I'm possibly an idiot, but if reinfection is possible what good does a vaccine do?

And if we are that screwed then I want to take the dirt nap after being in the middle of an unmasked crowd at a Bama-LSU game after ten hours of tailgating before I go rather then stuck at home.

The whole reinfection thing is overblown.

Being infected with a virus is not the same as being contagious. There are people infected with all sorts of things that they don't know about. Imagine if we did a TB test of every person. We'd find thousands of "cases" of TB, but most of those people aren't contagious. (Yes, I know TB is a bacteria, but it's spread in a similar manner.)

A Covid-19 vaccine will help, but honestly it's a mostly a proof of concept. I don't know if an mRNA vaccine has ever been approved. I'm willing to bet that if it works (or at least doesn't cause harm) you're going to see a slew of new mRNA vaccines for everything from the common cold to the next Covid strain.

Live. In. Fear.

Ignore the fact that there is a 99.97% survival rate.

This. As of mid-November, there were less than 30 officially confirmed instances of a covid re-infection. Just one in the US, and only a single death (which was in the Netherlands and the lady had like stage 4 brain cancer or something).

Meaning, people have better odds at getting eaten by a shark, or winning a powerball lottery or two, before catching that shite twice.

I mean, they have been counting Covid different than any other virus until this. I can’t stand the inconsistency, but that is why people consider it so politically motivated.
