Due to lumber prices

quote:

Higher lumber prices could stifle the number of planned construction projects across North America and push prices for new homes even higher due to rising costs, echoing issues that hurt homebuyers in the past year. Skyrocketing lumber prices have lifted the average price of a new single-family home in the U.S. by $24,386 in the past 10 months, the National Association of Home Builders said on Feb. 22.

Yeah, what a great time to be in between homes and living in apartment. I’ve really planned life well.

Everywhere I am reading says it will get worse before it gets better, KK. Maybe by October we might see some relief but it will be a brutal Summer for materials.

Of course lumber isn't the only thing affected. Shingles just went up 8% and higher oil prices will see that they go up more. Siding is hard to find of any kind, copper is rising as China is buying up a ton of it again, etc. The only thing that is normal seems to be sheetrock but everything else is insane.

This is what I fear if we sell our house. We’d want a new build farther north up the metroplex. I don’t want to eat my profit for material costs of new home

Not surprised.

The cost of the houses in these new neighborhoods popping up all over are insane

I always get a chuckle when realtors try and act like it’s a reasonable price.

I’m wanting to build a garage with a finished upstairs and these lumber prices are keeping me from even wanting to reach out to a contractor to see how much it will cost. My fear is it will be more than expected even with normal lumber prices.

Same.

I don't think it'll be normal for 2 years.
