My payment is over $1400!
We financed for 3 yrs w just enough down to get best rate (3.74%)
I figure we'll likely make more staying fully invested and this way didnt have to sell shares and pay 15% capital gains tax. Wouldnt recommend for most but it made sense in our situation.
Previous 3 vehicles we paid cash and drive them 10+ yrs.

We used to be extremely debt averse but now I'm comfortable w paying interest below 6% since we have ample capital working for us long term.

My truck payment was $628 for 60 months at 2%. The payment for my wife’s was $596 at 1.9%. That’s $1200 a month. Also put 21% into my 401k and the wife does 10%. Also have a HSA that sees money getting invested every year. Very doable. That’s 31% of our income being saved and invested for retirement and had a pretty great few years in the market. Just bought my daughter a new car and qualified for zero percent on that loan. With some budgets a higher car payment is doable.

I haven’t had a car payment - lease or loan - in more than 15 years. Buy quality pre-owned with cash, take good care of them and drive them a long time.

Who is paying $87,000 for a suburban? That note is insanity.

And here is an f-150 for $155k. If I’m buying a truck. I’m issuing as a truck. I do not care how much money I make, that price is crazy.

The fact that used is so high is ridiculous.

So you can pretty much get something new with a warranty, for what you would pay for a used car plus the maintenance costs?

With Toyota and Honda in the top 4 in sales while they import zero American made vehicles.

The craziest thing is, you could get a decent house for that not too long ago.

Just purchased a new vehicle. $1000 monthly payment for 60 months. Put $35k cash down and rate is 2.9%. If it’s in the budget then why not?

Cars are bankrupting America. Add insurance to that. Add gas. If you pay to park for work downtown. Can be at $1000 a month to own a mid tier SUV before you ever pay for gas and maintenance. And every fender bender is a $5000 problem.

Cheaper cars is a huge need. I for one welcome our Chinese automotive overlords
