Tesla, would you let this vehicle drive you to breakfast (or anywhere)?

I've never ridden in one. I've heard (read) that the technology is incredible. I'd probably let it drive me, however, I don't think I would be sitting in the passenger's seat while it did.

I would love to go get hammered at the bar and have my car drive me home.

I trust a computer to drive safely more than I trust all the people texting while driving.

How does that work in a scenario that you described and you are in the passenger's seat?

On paper self-driving cars are incredible and stand to disrupt so many markets in ways comparable to the internet or smartphones.

My biggest concerns are:
- software hacks
- liability (who's liable if my car crashes...why should it be me and not the tech company?)
- they work much better in theory if every car is autonomous to reduce variability

The liability and litigation piece seems the biggest hurdle that has to be addressed before we see adoption of the tech at scale.

I've been in the drivers seat while letting a Tesla drive me around. It's amazing. I'd gladly let a car drive for me while a watch a movie or whatever else.

No one is going to comment that a-hole was just cruising in the left lane?

What if your car was texting and driving. Then what?

Or bang models while their car drives for him.

Since 95% or more of traffic accidents are driver error I think I’d trust a self driving car. It will be strange at first, but once it’s normal you won’t mind.

Same with elevators, trams, trolly cars, etc.

Maybe, MAYBE, a city bus with a pre-planned GPS route running 24/7. Give it limited autonomy to avoid a road closure. But that's it.

From what I've read and heard about them, I would absolutely ride in one.

I’m considering buying one for the wife (no pics). She commutes a decent ways and hates to go to the gas station. Don’t know if I’ll spring for the $8K self driving option or not. Would be nice to plug in each night and not worry about it. She also has a few plug in parking spots in her work garage she can use.

My worry is service. I’ve heard some really bad stories about how long it takes to get parts for a Tesla.

I have ridden in one. The "autopilot" is a cool thing but I am surprised you don't have to have someone in the drivers seat for the car to go.

I would love it on long trips, let the car drive and just relax...

This and it couldn't be worse then my wife driving.
