LEBANON, Tenn. (WTVF) — Wilson County Sheriff Robert Ryan talked to NewsChannel 5 about the moment a suspect lit a marijuana joint while in court.
The man, Spencer Alan Boston, appeared in court Monday on a marijuana possession charge. The sheriff says Boston approached the bench to discuss his sentence and that's when Boston pulled the marijuana from his pocket in front of the general sessions judge.
As the court officers quickly approached him, the inmate began talking about his desire to see marijuana legalized in Tennessee.
“One of the craziest things I’ve seen,” says Sheriff Bryan.
The sheriff said Boston was led out of the courtroom through a small cloud of smoke. As was removed, he made a statement along the lines of "we deserve better," referring to the legalization of marijuana.
Lieutenant Scott Moore with the Sheriff's Office believes he planned the stunt to make a statement, saying "I think he knew what he was doing before he came to court."
Boston was booked on a second charge of simple possession and received ten days for contempt of court.

Doubtful, being in Tennessee.

I used to watch the drum circle at Lane county courthouse (Eugene, OR) jam and pass bowls with cops nearby. This is 25 years ago.
This always coincided with the Saturday market in Eugene. Lots of people around to protest if they messed with them. Probably the only reason they didn't break it up.
I loved watching that

I would totally use jury nullification of his crimes if put on his trial. It’s time we stop wasting time with marijuana being illegal.

Or..could just move like I did.
Buy a warehouse, grow your own and clear $400,000 a year..or out-cute yourself, get locked up and have to deal with that shite.

We should have already been reached a tipping point. Over 20% of the states now allow recreational marijuana (with New Hampshire and New Mexico moving bills through their legislatures currently), and by the end of 2020, over 80% will have medical marijuana in some form. Poll after poll shows the American people in support by over 60%. The fedgov needs to get their asses in gear and finally move on this.

I don't know how long I could live in Portland without killing someone, based on things I've read and seen reported.
