A lawsuit that New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell's administration settled last month with former Police Superintendent Warren Riley could be reopened because the administration allegedly failed to pay up on time.
Riley and the Cantrell administration agreed in August to settle the suit, in which Riley alleged that Cantrell yanked a job offer she had extended to him when she took office in 2018.
Now Riley has filed a court motion alleging she didn't keep her promise and asking to reopen the case.
"It is a substantial injustice to allow the defendant, Mayor LaToya Cantrell, to break her word, yet again, at Mr. Riley’s expense," the motion says.
In the lawsuit, Riley says Cantrell's decision to cancel his job offer cost him another job that paid $170,000 a year.
Riley was seeking $700,000 in damages in the suit. The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

Can the city council garnish her wages to cover that too?
Posted on 9/21/22 at 11:08 am to jbgleason
Allowing a criminal to just run roughshod over whoever with no repercussions. No wonder she has no intentions of paying anything.

She has quite literally never been held accountable for anything. Why would it change now?

It’s hard to be worse than Broome, but Destroya is showing it can be done.

This is the type of little thing the city council could use to remove her if they wanted (or so you would think).

City charter only lets the council remove the mayor if they are found incompetent (not just stupid) or they are convicted of a felony. Outside of the recall or indictment and conviction she isn’t going anywhere.

Black privilege. Call her out on this and you're a racist

I really can't blame her for doing this. She's allowed to get away with whatever she wants.

Lester Earl will not stand for this proud black woman to be bullied any longer!

He's probably got a twitter group together to go harass Moreno at her home

Are you sure New Orleans isn't a sitcom at this point?

Glad to see you awake for this Sao.

Nah. Per his Twitter account, he just talks to himself on there. I guess what he said was true in that Twitter is real life.
