Bro, his dad is melting online about his FIL teaching the kid to ride a bike. He's soft like papa.

YOU took the experience away from yourself when you and your wife decided that your first priority was money and that it was your in law's job to raise your kid.
Do him a favor and let your in laws adopt him.

Just be happy that your kid is happy, and so is grandpa.

Now, MAKE the time to enjoy riding bikes with your kid, and stop with the me, me, me crap. You're a dad. It's not about you.

You have roughly 18 years to get your kid ready to leave the nest. You CANNOT do it all by yourself. Be sure to thank those who help along the way - like your FIL.

It's okay... You can still teach him how to crochet and braid his hair

Tell him all the things you do to his daughter to get him back.

You aren’t being ridiculous.

Grandparents are clueless about this stuff sometimes.

Long story short, grandpa made time for him. You didn’t. Sad truth. And those who sow, reap.

It’s ridiculous to compare the time a retired grandparent has to that of a man providing for his family. This thread is chockablock full of dumb takes. Besides mine, which are correct.

I'm actually kind of upset right now but the wife thinks I'm being ridiculous. That's something that I will NEVER be able to do now. My father in-law effectively took that experience away from me as a dad.

Look on the bright side. You’ll be able to have his first fist fight with him once he figures out he has a shitty dad

I taught myself to ride without training wheels and I still love my dad.

Same. Milk crate to get on the bike, a few bruises and scrapes, and about 20 minutes of time

Although I don’t value my memories with my grandfather as much as my dad’s, doesn’t mean they don’t mean the world to me.

And same goes for your FIL. He may not be your dad, but he values memories like that probably more than you’d imagine. When I see my dad with my kids, I know he cherishes ever second of it.

You’re being a bit silly. I’d just be proud that my son learned something new and is finally successful at it. Be proud of both them, IMO. I’d be smiling ear to ear.

Yes, I know. I've come around and back to my senses here. It doesn't bother me anymore because I know my father in law valued that just as much as I would have. I'll get more years to make memories with my kids than he will so I'm good with it.

TDsngumbo's Son: Daddy, teach me to ride a bike please. All the kids my age have been riding for months.

TDsngumbo: Go ask your grandpa, boy. Daddy has important business to take care of. The OT needs to crown an OT 10, and my dick needs a spanking.

TDsngumbo's Son: Sorry, daddy

Scene fades away as Cats in the Cradle plays and TDsngumbo's Son slowly closes the bedroom door.

Make memories with your son by going biking with him. It doesn't have to be anything fancy - riding around your neighborhood will suffice. When your kid is 30, he'll remember those, not who taught him how to ride a bike.
