Most know the longest day of the year is the first day of summer, generally around June 20 every year.
Yet, neither the year's earliest sunrise nor latest sunset occurs on the longest day.

The earliest sunrise date is happening around now , June 9. The latest sunset will be around the end of the month.
This varies in different locations around the Northern Hemisphere.

You can watch the sunset at the base of the 2,717 ft tall Burj Khalifa building in Dubai, and then take an elevator to the top and watch the sunset again. LINK

In December the sun starts setting a few minutes later as the month progresses, but daylight gets shorter because the sun also rises several minutes later.

Sunset is actually earlier on Thanksgiving than it is on Christmas Day in Louisiana.

The Burj Khalifa elevator is fast and makes your ears pop, but it doesn't move that fast. That's drone footage.

Saying it’s the longest day is not technically correct….the length of the day has not changed. The summer solstice has the longest daylight time.

Both of you are dipshits because that video was rendered in a video game. Not only is it obvious from the visuals but it says so in the title ("X-Plane 11") and the description ("This is a simulation").

I read this as:
quote:

I've been there and done that in real life so calling me a dipshit for pointing out bullshite is quite dipshitty of you on this matter.

I called you a dipshit for thinking OP's link was drone footage when it is clearly and obviously game footage and labeled as such.

As to whether you can actually watch the sun set twice by riding the elevator, it should be possible. There is almost a 3 minute differential between sunset at ground level vs the observation deck, and I believe the elevator takes a little over a minute to get there. Maybe you with your real life experience can tell the class whether it takes more than 2 more minutes to get from the elevator to a place where you can see the sun again.

Once the setting sun hits the horizon, it is gone in two minutes, two seconds.
