When I was in high school, one of the guys that graduated ahead of me fell out of a tree retrieving a football at Ole Miss his freshman year. RIP BMJ
My year at ole miss at the Beta house. He fell pretty far and was drunk right?
"Beta's are supposed to be the smart ones!" Was a common insensitive phrase at the time.

Such a freak occurrence. I had just moved out of LA exactly a week prior and made the drive right back to BR to pay my respects. So tragic.
He was a great guy. I think about him all the time.

When I was in Jr. High this old guy that helped out with our youth group at church died while cutting limbs for someone. He was in a basket lift thing and fell out directly into the wood chipper. His wife and friend saw the whole thing.

Some pretty bizarre stories on here.

I hope it was head first... I'd hate to think about being alive and hitting it feet first.

About 15 yrs ago my SIL's brother was found in his back yard dead. He had been practicing with his bow (rigged for bow fishing) and there must have been a kink or knot in the line, causing it to spring back at high speed. Arrow entered his eye went through his skull (nock first). Gruesome way to die. I know it sounds impossible, and I would not have believed it if not close to the family.
That must happen a lot.I know a guy that's really into Bow Fishing. His Father owns an Archery Shop.He drew his Bow back to shoot and then let off.His next shot the line had slack in it.It came back and hit him in the mouth.
eta:Didn't kill him, just messed his mouth up.

No, the one who fell off a roof and died was in Dallas at the time. The one currently on death row was in SW Houston, where I went to high school

Family friend had gone out to shoot some snakes he had seen on his dock. He slipped and fell and somehow shot himself in the chest.

Here in st. Tammany, a Sheriff's officer died while driving in a funeral procession for another fallen officer - a sudden thunderstorm erupted and a tree fell on his car killing him and seriously injuring the deputy riding with him, who was also his fiancée.
Another Covington PD (I believe friends with the above, I know they knew each other since kids) died while camping with his daughter when a storm blew up and a huge tree limb fell on their tent - he was shielding her when it hit him.
Another guy, same as above (not sure if they were friends but knew each other well and since grade school), also a cop (either STP Sheriffs or Cov PD), died when he was bush hogging on a tractor and somehow got knocked off and under.
So bizarre, all 3 really good guys, all police, had known each other since kids although I have no idea what their friend status was when they were older.

This thread has given me some anxiety. Some Final Destination shite going on IRL...

I grew up in Houma. There was a 10-12 year-old mentally handicap boy who would ride his bike all over the neighborhood, and was very curious. The kind that would ride up into your driveway/garage and awkwardly ask what you are doing.
Well he got curious around a garbage truck on day and apparently was looking up into the wheel well when the truck driver decided to move. He was killed and quite the nasty scene.

Lady across the street from me growing up hung herself in her garage before her husband returned home from work. My mom was in the backyard when he opened the garage and the dog started barking, she went around the corner only to find him trying to hold her up by her legs. Terrible.

A guy I knew was a big bow hunter. He shot a buck in his back pasture late one evening. He found a blood trail, but never could find the deer. He even went back the next morning and looked. Nothing.
THREE days later, this buck busts through a picture window in this guy's house. The buck gored the dude to death and ended up bleeding to death in the house from the glass cuts. They found his arrow still lodged in the buck.
Crazy as hell.

When I was younger, one of the coaches in our Dixie baseball league was leaning on a fence. Bolt of lightning hit the ground about 200 yards away. The guy seemed fine. Week later, dead from heart attack. Docs said that it was from the Lightning bolt that never even touched metal.
