STPSO Randy Smith loses hearing in arrest of federal agent - Nanette Krentel case

A federal judge has ruled St. Tammany Parish sheriff's deputies illegally arrested former federal agent Jerry Rogers in 2019 after Rogers criticized the Sheriff's Office investigation into the high-profile homicide of Nanette Krentel.
U.S. District Judge Jane Triche Milazzo on Friday agreed with Rogers' claims that two of St. Tammany Sheriff Randy Smith's top deputies had no probable cause to arrest and detain him after he sent a series of anonymous emails to the dead woman's sister lambasting the investigation. Her ruling, unusual in a federal case, adds leverage to Rogers' case, which is slated to go to trial in December.
Seriously? His argument is that he isn't responsible for applying common sense to the laws he applies?
quote:
In a statement Monday, Chadwick Collings, an attorney for Smith, said they would take their case to the Fifth Circuit.
"(Smith) strongly believes she is mistaken on the law in the case," the statement said. "The Sheriff believes the Court misappreciated the law in finding that it was the duty of the Sheriff's Office to make (its) own determination of whether the statute as applied to these facts was somehow unconstitutional."

Good, hammer that shite bag.
Not the first adversary Smith has had arrested without basis either.
Rogers is good people.

But you know what's worse? The good people of St. Tammany will continue to send this violator of civil rights back to office with at least 60% of the vote.
Yeah he covers up shite, but aside from that and the Civil Rights stuff he's doing a good job....I mean, at least he's not diddling the kids of family members.....or stealing money. Amirite?

I mean the alternative is that the Sheriff can do whatever they want? You have to follow the law; it’s there for a reason.
Sheriff sounds like a petty tyrant.

Smith is such a drunken shitbag. STP fricked up by not electing Tim Lentz when given the opportunity. This is the result.

Fify.
Honestly, St. Tammany should have asked to split many years ago.

My proposal of widening Bayou Lacombe as wide as the Mississippi has yet to gain any traction.

What is lost here is how corrupt they all are and have been covering the murder of Nanette Krentel.

Do people not know how to send an actual anonymous email anymore? Jesus.

Don't blame me, I voted for the CPD guy last go-around.

I can't think of a better way to describe RS. He really is a dumbass. And he royally fricked up the entire Krentel case.

No, I am not 100% sure but I think the woman that posted here may have been the wife or family of someone in the St.Tammany fire dept. who knew about her husband Steve Krentel. I can't really say if I thought him to be capable of murder. But I did know him a little bit back when he was dating Nanette 20 plus years ago. I was good friends with a guy that knew both of them. She was as reported as nice and as sweet as could be. Him, he gave off that entitled rich kid I am better than everyone vibe. I hadn't seen either of them since about 2000 when I heard about this story. I do think it is shady as hell that this investigation if they are really conducting one is still stuck. Sure looks like the Sheriff's office and state fire marshall is covering this up.
