Sticker shock at grocery store checkout
Posted by liquid rabbit

I've shopped at Walmart for the last time. I usually go there for lower-cost staples, but I'm saying goodbye to that. Today, 5 of 6 items I picked up were higher at checkout than listed on the shelves.
This isn't the first time that has happened, but it's the last. Complaining about it does no good, as I have pointed out the discrepancy before. They don't care.
So frick 'em. I'll give my cash to Rouse's and Calvin's. At least they show you the correct (higher) price before you hit the checkout.

If you’re trying to avoid sticker shock by going to Rouses or Calvin’s GOOD LUCK

The shock is the price doesn't match what I expected to pay. If I know up front how much I'm getting screwed, that's one thing.
I'm old enough to remember when Walmart prided itself on selling U.S. products.

Among other items, I went to buy some corn last week at the self check-out. It was "on sale" and the display was within eye-sight of the register. I forget the exact prices, but I think it was on sale for $1.29. It rang up as something like $2.49. I had 10 cans.
I called the clerk over and simply pointed to the display that was about 20 yards away. The sign was clear as day showing the corn was on sale for $1.29. She simply scanned the label and it rang up on her scanner as $2.49. I again pointed to the display and told her that her scanner was clearly wrong and the price was $1.29. She just said that the display price was wrong and that there was nothing she could do about it.
I put the corn aside and told her she could go restock the sh!t.
THE F*CKING SALE SIGN AND DISPLAY WERE RIGHT F*CKING IN FRONT OF HER.

That's what would lead to me leaving an entire cart of groceries in the checkout area and walking out.
There is something they can do, they just refuse.

And the President just said he's willing to see those prices go higher to fight a war in Ukraine that has nothing to do with American interests.

But it affects the DC swamp. You know the only people that matter in this country

Subtle and WEAK "I (think) I'm rich" brag.

There's actually someone at the checkout at your Walmart? It's all self-checkout at the Prairieville Super Walmart. The only one with an actual human is the liquor counter.
