I've never been big on just carrying on because I'm 4'9" and can't lift my bag over my head (
), but seeing the baggage shite show going on at baggage claims across the country right now has me carrying on today.
Someone will just have to be kind enough to help me.

2300 more cancellations today.
How can SWA sustain these losses? Could this fiasco send them into bankruptcy or will the Feds bail them out, or will another airline take them over?

They'll get a federal bailout if their ESG score is good enough.

Still amazes me how four days in, they’ve only decreased cancellations by 400

Southwest is the only airline that has more cash than debt and a A rating by the creditors. I am pretty sure they will survive. Full schedule tomorrow is what I am hearing

Maybe they need to invest in their systems. WSJ saying their systems are so outdated they can't match crews to planes

Just got a notification for my flight out next Monday... "We expect to resume normal operations in time for your flight, please continue checking the app for any updates"
Glad only one leg of the trip is on SW with the clusterfrick they have going on.

My SW flight this morning left on time and got me home.

so is their fleet, the model of keeping one fleet type to keep down maintenance, training, ground handling costs, etc. worked well for them for years, they actually pay Boeing to dumb down newer models of 737s for fleet standardization, to the detriment of other 737 operators, they were born and were nurtured and able to grow out of the protection of the Wright amendment, all of that has changed and passed them by, they want to play in the big leagues but weren't really prepared for it, sure they'll survive, I'd imagine there will be some house cleaning and revamping in store, if not, they're fricked

You are not wrong and the pilots have been saying this for a long time. This is what you get when you neglect progress for profit

They should throw some of that cash towards upgrading their computer systems that they have been neglecting and kicking down the road for decades.
If they don't actually fix this issue, and only choose to patch it, this problem will happen again.

But what is their net worth? This is a very fluid situation. Can they liquidate all of their assets before time runs out?
