Anything by the Carpenters.
My mom loved them and always played their records when I was a kid (especially the Christmas album). Annoyed the shite out of me.
Now I realize how amazing they actually are. Especially ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’. It might be the greatest/most perfect pop song ever- lyrics (by Paul Williams), arrangement, melody- it’s flawless. Brian Wilson and John Lennon both said they were blown away when they first heard it. And I hated it as a dumb kid.

My favorite song lyric to sing when there’s absolute mayhem in my house. Except I turned it into, “enjoy the silence, it’s as quiet as a jailhouse riot”
Also, from the same song, the line “all I ever wanted, all I ever needed, is here in my arms” is what I sing to my kids when I’m hugging them good night.

Rose colored glasses by John Conlee. Hated that song as a kid, but love it as an adult.

I Got a Name - Jim Croce.
My sister had a Croce 8-track when I was a kid used to listen to it all the time and liked songs like Bad Bad Leroy Brown and Don't Mess Around with Jim...songs kids would like and I'd skip I Got a Name.
These days might be my favorite Croce song.

Didn't like anything from Rush or LZ when I was a kid... though the singers were just too high pitched. Now, they are two of my favorites.

All the songs I loved growing up with in the 70’s and 80’s I still listen to and enjoy today.

A ton of Bob Seeger didn’t click with me when I was a young Buck
Now that I am so much older, a lot of his songs now I get.

Al Stewart, "Year of the Cat"
Jackson Browne, "Doctor My Eyes"
When I first heard these two songs years ago, I just did not understand their appeal. Now they are among my favorite songs.

Billy Idol, Eyes Without a Face.
- not sure why I didn’t like it, but it seemed strange to me as a high schooler. And then it got overplayed.
- now I love it.
