I’ve spent some time thinking about this recently, and while it would be easy to just accuse them of being liars, I actually don’t think that’s it, at least for most of them. I think it’s basic tribalism. Anytime something gets posted that they agree with, they don’t think if it as “conservative” or “Republican” or whatever, they simply view it as “correct” and “common sense”. Anything they disagree with is attributed to whichever group they are particularly otherizing at the moment, though usually liberal, Democrats, progressives, etc.
It’s why they constantly accuse people of being liberal democrats when they clearly aren’t, and it’s how they have convinced themselves that conservatives don’t outnumber liberals on this board by orders of magnitude.

you're just poorly using the playbook that Sao has mastered.
Always conveniently showing up in political/culture war threads ready to argue with conservatives, never contributing to the conversation, regularly reminding everyone that "both sides as at fault", pointing the finger at Republicans or Conservatives, and pretending you are more enlightened and above getting involved. I think the OT is overwhelmingly conservative in its politics. I don’t think the OT is “far right” as a political philosophy, as poorly as that term tends to be defined.
