Didn't you ask the qualified dr that question?

My wife (no pics) had this done when she was in high school. She had a rough year between having that done in the summer and wisdom teeth removal in the fall. The gum surgery wasn't too bad. She said it hurt more on the roof of her mouth than her gums. Basically ate soup for a couple of days because biting food would bother the gums and chewing food would bother the palate. After the weekend she was fine.

I've had it done twice....most painful recovery of any dental procedure I've had.....and I've had dual jaw surgery to correct an underbite

Had it done over 40 years ago when I was around 20. My girlfriend brought me a chocolate shake the next day since eating was out of the question.

Worst mistake ever! Do not suck thru a straw under any circumstances until you are completely healed.

Have had no issues since but you may need to pay extra attention to small seeds that get trapped under the bottom of the graft.

I would have to be put to sleep.
I'd also want a mouth doctor not a tooth doctor to do the job.

The periodontist is both, what do you do then?

Just have the tooth/teeth pulled, get implants and move in.

Grafts are terrible.

I had it done. It sucks. The graft site hurts the worst afterwards.

How about the baby boy born without eyelids? They took his foreskin after circumcision and grafted new eyelids for him. Worked great except he's now cockeyed!

My mother in law had this done last week. Did not require a single pain pill, and is doing incredibly well. Says she was never in any pain. The biggest pain is the retainer and not being able to eat much. It is apparently no big deal if you have a good periodontist.

What was your level of recession? My dentist just recently suggested I go in for a gum graft. I’m hoping a can wait a few more years as I’m only at a 2mm recession. I’m not sure when it’s common to go through with the surgery as I don’t want to do it to early and risk messing up the gums I have now.

Wasn't this an episode of OZ where one of the Nazis woke up from the procedure and learned he got a graft from a black dude and had to cut them off himself because the Aryan Nation had turned their backs on him and were about to kill him for allowing himself to become impure?
