I had it done above two top teeth and one on the bottom. They gave me the option to use my own tissue off the roof of my mouth or a product made up of donor tissue. I opted for the donor tissue as the doctor said its less painful, quicker, and just as effective. It freaks some people out to use the donor tissue but whatever it did not bother me. The procedure was pretty painless. The worst part was the chewing gum like material that you have to keep applied to the area for about 10 days to protect the graft. Mine came loose and had to be reapplied after about 5 days.

The graft was successful and I had no issues

Had this done years ago. I likely still need the fourth one, but had three done.

Listen to the dentist above. The palate hurts more than the gum, but the pain is more or less over with in 72 hours.

What’s the iv for?

Pain meds? Put you under?

Maybe I should get one.

Had it done along with a frenectomy, and it wasn’t too bad. The worst part is keeping in clean and not damaging it while it heals. That said, no dental work is ever pleasant.

This sounds gruesome. Is it as awful as it sounds or surprisingly no big deal?

Had it some when I was a kid. Wasn't too bad. I thought they used cadaver skin these days rather than doing a graft.

I would have to be put to sleep.
I'd also want a mouth doctor not a tooth doctor to do the job.

I had one done for the bottom front. He pulled gum from the side of the bad spot and not from the roof of my mouth, thank god. Honestly, the pain only lasted a few days. I lived off of Popeyes mashed potatoes until the soreness went down.

It's not much worse than a bad pizza cheese burn to the roof of the mouth really.

I had it done a few years back. Mine was not "sewn" on, he scraped a raw spot and stuck it on. Didn't notice the fixated part due the roof being raw.

It only bugs ya about a week, only 2-3 days of that being sore. The mouth tissues are the fastest healing ya got.

I had to have a procedure that wasn't going to be pleasant. Zanax, gas and numbing injections took care of that. It was just fine. Plug some music into your ears and put on a pair of sunglasses.

No, never dipped or smoked.

Excellent teeth. Braces. First cavity at age 27, two fillings total.

Dentist says it’s nothing I did and not related to tooth care. It’s just...the way it turned out. Genes, luck of the draw, etc

First thing I'd do is request a name change.

This is incredibly common. I've had it done.

Half the posters here making fun of you for needing it done have recession too, they just have shitty dentists that don't tell them.

I had it done 38-39 years ago. I don’t remember it being painful. Only thing I remember about it, I had to wear a retainer
