Smoke Inhalation
How long after exposure would you know if it was an issue or not? Earlier this evening, like four hours ago, I took in a huge breath of smoke from a fire I was burning in the backyard.

At first it was just burning my throat a little then I felt fine for a couple of hours but now I feel like I have a little headache and lightheadedness. Am I going to die or is it all in my head?

Just go ahead and turn your TWIC card in, much less embarrassing than getting escorted out after your test results come back

Depends on what was burning that you were inhaling. If it was some weed you'll be fine. If it was crack laced with fentanyl you would probably be dead. So just hard to say at this point. Maybe ask a fireman or read the back of the label of the chemicals.

Depends on what you were drinking when you were standing around the fire.

FF/EMT here. What were you burning, and how much time did you spend around the fire? Were you downwind from it for a while, even if you thought you were out of the smoke?

You probably just need some water and rest. Sleep it off, check in tomorrow.

re: Smoke Inhalation
I know this thread is giving RS shit, but I'll say this: Any time I am by a fire and the wind changes and blows smoke in my face, if I breath any of it in it fricks me up...you just immediately start to choke, which only makes you breathe more heavily which can get more smoke in you if it's still in your face. It's not hard to understand why so many people die of smoke inhalation during house fires because that shite just overcomes you so fast.
