re: Settle a drunken argument: Tyson vs Bruce Lee no holds barred KO match

Bruce Lee was a marketing genius. Mike Tyson would annihilate his miniature arse. No contest. Until someone shows me video of bruce lee actually whipping a professional fighters arse and not some bullshite story, I say he's nothing more than a comic book character with some mad gymnastics skills. Bruce Lee=Jackie Chan. I've seen Jackie Chan doing some crazy shite. Guess he could whip Iron Mike's arse too.

Lee would break Tyson's kneecap in like 5 seconds
Do you understand that this concept is Hollywood/McDojo bullshite?
Go watch some Thai boxing matches. Watch what those guys do to each other.
Read this, from LINK
quote:
Muay Thai Rules 18: Fouls and Strikes Violating the Rules
Biting, eye gouging, spitting, or head butting.
Wrestling, back or arm locks or any similar judo or wrestling hold.
Deliberately falling on his opponent.
Holding the ropes for any reason.
Swearing or the use of abusive language during the match.
Knocking out or injuring his opponent after the referee has ordered the match to stop for any reason.
Deliberately striking the groin area.
"Breaking the kneecap" isn't against the rules, and yet why do you suppose Thai boxers don't aim to "just break the kneecap in like 5 seconds" and become super wealthy with this surefire method of destroying opponents?

If the match takes place in a cage I will go with Tyson. If it's a street fight I'll go with Lee.

That pretty much sums it up.

OK, I'll cooperate in the drive for fifty pages on this topic.
I don't have an opinion, just wanted to keep the posting going. Carry on.

I know that answer is not popular since Bruce Lee is/was more popular than Iron Mike. But that does not change the fact that answer is correct.
Bruce Lee was probably strong for his size, but he simply lacked the muscle mass to generate even a fraction of the power seen in even an average heavy weight boxer. Mike Tyson's sparring partners generated more power in their punches than Bruce Lee could generate even in his kicks. Basically anything Lee would have thrown at Tyson would not have phased him. On the other hand, there's a good chance that a well landed upper cut from Tyson would have seriously injured (perhaps killed) Lee.

So a kick to the knee wouldn't phase him?

It would have been painful but doubtful Lee could debilitate him to the point Tyson could not retaliate. I don't know if you're old enough to remember Tyson in his prime, but he was lnot a lumbering slow brute. He was a fast as greased goose shite brute.

I was at most of his fights at Ceasar's. 31 btw

Bumps and 44 pages late but...

Tyson hands down.

You're 31 and were at most of his fights?!? His heyday started in the late 80s and most of his fights were done by the mid 90s. You would have been a small child to an early teen during almost all of his career.

Everyone thought he was a brute but he really wasn't, it was more to the fact that Tyson had a badass combination of speed, precision punches and above average power.

Here's my take on a Tyson vs BL fight:
If Tyson gets his hands on him Tyson wins. That's why a ring would benefit him. He would just have to do his typical bull rush, pin him, and pound away.
What gives BL an advantage? A street fight for sure. He is quick and can move around. This type of fight would probably be a classic offense vs defense situation. Tyson has strength and speed for sure but his defense is only waist up. Any muay thai guys in here? That lump above the knee isn't called the sweet spot for nothing. A front kick to the knee would end the fight. It only takes approximately 30 pounds of pressure to flex that hinge joint the wrong way. I'm only 6'2 165lbs and I know I generate more than that with my front kicks. I also like that jeet kun do utilizes attacks as defense. BL has kicks and Tyson does not.
So I think BL has more of a bag of tricks to work with, but a mistake would be catastrophic for him against Tyson.
ETA:
You're right. My dad was high up at Caesar's and got to go up in the suites with other execs to watch.
I have plenty of jackets, hats, and buttons from this fight that never happened. Still trying to find some value on them. Went back home to Vegas in January and stopped by the sports collectible places in the Forums. They couldn't tell me a value but were shocked that I had these.

44 pages and this bitch is still on track? Way to go boys.
ETA, just read page one and skipped to last page to see if it was still on. Will keep reading.

Tyson. And it would be fast. Only way Lee wins that is if he just runs the hell away long enough to wear Tyson out. If Tyson ever got his hands on him, that's it. Game over.

Even an average professional level boxer will destroy an MMA champion anyway and twice on Sunday
