I have been ballz deep in this thread since like Page 6. My instructor trained with a guy named Larry Hartsell or something like that. Too lazy to Google correct spelling right now. He was a JKD wizard. They dabbled in ground stuff but it wasn't anything worth bragging on and when the Gracies and the Machados introduced BJJ to the world in UFC 1, my instructor began training in it under Rickson and Royler.

I know just enough about Bruce Lee and JKD to be dangerous although I spent my childhood growing up as a Golden Gloves boxer idolizing none other than Mike Tyson (as a boxer of course). You would think I would say Tyson would mop the floor with little Bruce.

I'd heard that two of the major original JKD guys(Inosanto and some other guy) actually were in dispute over what direction Bruce would've taken JKD over time. That seems hilariously ironic considering Bruce wouldn't have hesitated to borrow anything that would be useful. It would've been amazing to have Bruce Lee alive to see MMA become popular and to see how JKD would've changed to reflect it.

Me too. I never get the "why is everyone arguing, you're ruining the thread" posts. As far as I can tell, the OT is based on arguments. If you didn't want to see people argue over petty shite, you came to the wrong place.

Are you talking about your argument spanning several pages over all kinds of semantics bullshite about whether in a ring and what kind and blah blah blah?

Bruce Lee fought, and defeated, all challengers in his prime while he was in China (before he "retired" to the US and became the teacher and actor as we know and see him on videos).

Their fights were more about life/death, family and honor, etc. not some highly televised US pay per view, money hungry, so called "tournaments" as we know it today.

Also, China is a communist country and did not allow and care about recordings of their fights (to get corporate sponsors in the 1950/60s lol). If there are footage of their fighting challenges, they surely in hell will not place it Youtube just for our entertainment.

Ask the Russians where are their youtube videos of them making the nukes. Where was Bin Laden's video of his hiding spots before the seals found him? They did not show it on MTV Cribs? Must not have been true our existed then.

Yea since fighting karate is the same thing as nuclear weapons and a world terrorist. You're an idiot

I'll take an actual fighter over a workout freak any day of the week.

40 pages and still no actual evidence of Bruce Lee kicking someone's arse

Bruce could have very well been a legit badass, but any logical person would chose the guy they've actually seen fight people

Na the logical person decides that because of evidence there are actually two questions at hand. There's no proof that Bruce was a legit badass fighter, sure. But there's also no proof of the contrary, that he isn't. There's isn't enough information, in your eyes, to make a decision.

If he was, could he beat Tyson?

Personally, Tyson goes down as my all time favorite boxer. Love his style and aggression but he would be no match for Lee. Lee could toy with Tyson, frustrate him and make him look silly before he put him down for a nap. Yes, Tyson is bigger but size wouldnt really be a concern. Lee was a master in multiple fighting styles, knows how to attack you in countless ways including pressure point attacks. Tyson wouldnt see it coming. Only chance Tyson would have, like someone said, would be if the fight took place in a phone booth and even then I wouldnt bet against Lee.

Am I reading this thread correctly?

If I am then Bruce lee wins. Hes going to bring nun chucks to the fight most def. And tyson is only bringing fists. Hes gonna beat tyson down.

Now if its just fist I think lee is going to try to stay away from tyson and kick tysons legs to death. And if it happens again I'm going with lee.

Now if iron Mike gets ahold of lee, goodnight sweet prince.

Its all gonna be on the setting of this fight who I choose.

Have you seen the video of how much power Lee's sidekick generates?

I searched "boxing" on the search bar and had to respond to this thread (was looking for reasonable boxing rates to try and talk the new gym I'm trying out down).

Lee would break Tyson's kneecap in like 5 seconds, and Tyson wouldn't be able to generate any power for his punches IMO. One/two swift kicks and it's over for Tyson's power base

I had heard that getting hit in the face by Tyson bare knuckled would be equivalent to getting hit in the face by a 100 mph fastball or something similar to that.

That said, Tyson's biggest weakness was fighting against smart fighters that were patient. Holyfield owned him due to patience and willingness to tie him up. By all accounts, Lee was a highly intelligent fighter and would probably be willing to take his time and stay away from Tyson.

Don't be fooled by choreographed karate in a movie. How many youtube videos have you seen of a guy using karate in a street fight and it looked like anything you saw on a movie? Saying that though, Lee still has the upper hand with the kicking of Tyson's chicken legs, but if Tyson lands on solid uppercut Lee would fall faster than little mac in punch out

Tyson would charge and if he COULD get inside? Lights out for Lee. Mike would have to eat some kicks though. And has he EVER taken a leg kick?
