I saw a guy in Mandeville near the Fresh Market/Chipotle intersection. He had a sign saying he was disabled and needed money. Had a serious limp. I do an errand around there, and then go somewhere and am there for about 20 minutes. I leave and am now in the vicinity of the post office and the same guy is now there hitting up cars for money. The distance between both places I saw him is at least 0.5 miles. He had to have driven there in that amount of time.

Fast forward to two days later. I saw him again at the intersection of Monroe St and the Causeway intersection near the Shell Station.

Every time I saw him, I saw a car give him money. This guy is making bank.

Panhandlers aren’t stupid. In fact, they have found a way to exploit the stupid.

You cannot have a serious limp, then be across town in 20 minutes even if you had a car. It would take him at least 10 minutes to walk to his car, and another ten to go from his car to the new intersection.

If he is truly disabled, are there no programs out there to help?

It is indeed shocking that someone could travel .5 miles by foot in 20 minutes.

studies have shown the average panhandler makes around $35k a year completely tax free, while working mostly just during the peak traffic hours

there are several in the french quarter that drive there in BMW and Audi cars in groups of 3-4

Probably because that’s the leg he used to shoot up junk.

There is this crazy bitch that stands in the middle of the road at the Florida/22nd street exit. There is no median. This turd with hair will stand in the middle of lanes.

Today I was stopped there with a window down and was getting some cash together from my little cubby hole to get some coffee and she started whooping and hollering like she was about to get a payday and she approached my vehicle with this shite eating grin on her face.

I told her to frick off, This was MY money.

Someone’s going to hit her with a car one day and it will be a good thing. She’s a danger and a menace. They should all be rounded up like a dog catcher and sent to California. I can’t stand them.

A friend hit one the other night in the middle of the road under a dark overpass. Ripped his arm off (the junkies).

I told him good job.

My fav, I had a paraplegic African American gentleman (wheelchair bound) working for me. He takes bus home from downtown Houston to west Houston everyday. Amazing guy! Is from NY and super smart. Went to boarding school in Boston with Grover Cleveland's grandson. Point - not your avg joe!

He is waiting at his bus stop as normal and a passer by sees him and gives him $5. He certainly was not soliciting. Just waiting for the bus as normal.

He tells me about it the next day. I asked him what did he do with the $5. "I kept it!", of course.

Dude made deep into 6 figures...! Was hilarious.

The junkie with the missing arm in the Sherwood area has been there over 10 years.

Due to arthritis I have a serious limp too. I work full time and am willing to bet that this begger could too. Lack of work ethic is a serious problem in this country.

God, this an oddly specific yet utterly unnecessary detail.
